I haven't posted anything in a while.
Or at least not anything good.
I've just been really stressed and I've been suffering from art block.
I drove up to new hampshire with my dad today for an interview at New Hampshire Institute of Art and I think they really want me there. I can actually picture myself going there too. It's a really small school and they give you lots of time to figure out what you want to major in. I'm actually considering being a real photo major. I know i'm not the best, but based on what I have they seemed impressed.
It really lifted up my spirits. They looked at some of the photos i had in my portfolio and at first they were like, eh, but then the guy in charge of the photography department asked me how many photo classes I'd taken and when i said none they seemed way more impressed with my work. They were even more impressed that I've been using crappy little cameras intended for snapshots and myspace photos and I've gotten the results that I have. They suggested getting into a photo class and working a lot more with film, but I think they genuinely want me there.
I still have a lot to do to get my portfolio ready. The pressure is still getting to me. Tonight i looked in the mirror and saw a complete trainwreck. Things should be taking a turn for the better, but I feel worse and worse.
The guy who is in charge of the photo department at NH said that he would email me and give me a few topics to choose from and I have to do 20 or so black and white photos pertaining to that subject. it's good for practice. he said he's seen everything I do with color and would love to see what I can do with black and white since it's a big part of what they do there. I hope everything will turn out well.
